great laptop for a great rate! August 28, 2010 rahil patel I have been looking on laptops for 3 months. to be honest i found lots of better laptops than this with lower rate on amazon but i always was skeptical so i didn't order. but i decided to order this one and i am really satisfied with it so far. the only thing wrong i noticed about this laptop is when i am shut down and start again the screen kind of has a few silver lines going through it but that's only for like 1 secs and only when i am restarting. there is nothing else wrong with this laptop. a must buy but if u have more money then get this same kind of laptop with webcam and s-video.

Cheap, But Effective August 13, 2010 K. Elerby (Chicago, IL) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
I'm a huge fan of HP products. Not because they are a company that makes cutting edge products, but because they make affordable products that work for business minded people such as myself. I purchased this laptop for my sister after her other HP laptop (That cost me easily $800) was destroyed. I was a little skeptical about purchasing a laptop for half the price.
The laptop has some great attributes:
-Great sturdy build quality
-Aesthetically pleasing
-Hardware functions great on the Windows 7 platform
-Price
-Runs all basic word processing software with ease
The only bad things about the laptop is the new mousepad design that HP is starting to put on their laptops. The mouspad isn't accentuated in a recessed crevice, but rather its flush with the case and has the same texture as the case. Also the mouse pad only has one large rectangle button. I suppose with the adjustment of the sensitivity and some time spent getting mental memory of the notepad this can easily be conquered.
Also, HP decided to put hot keys on the left of the keyboard. While I applaud the idea of this, it unfortunately means that the keyboards home row isn't quite exactly where you would expect it to be. This will inevitably result in you opening the calculator (that's one of hot keys on the left) while trying to hit the shift key.
Overall the unit is great in quality with a few quirks here and there, but for a daily use laptop under $400 you can't beat this deal.
Almost perfect! August 23, 2010 Luigi (NY United States) Bought this computer primarily for the price. It is well built, runs cool, comfortable keyboard, decent sound and quite running. The screen image is of decent quality (but not the greatest). The mouse pad design is slick and modern but takes some getting used of it (no borders), however the pad buttons are not very good and cheap to the touch. Also there is no webcam (understandable considering the price), but it is also missing a card reader which I didn.t know about it until I looked for it.The dvd player is also flimsy and delicate, just treat it with care. Considering what I paid for it ($350 after rebates) I guess I can't complain. Overall: GOOD!
Low end computer for grandma August 14, 2010 Dmitriy A. Ivanov (NEWBURY PARK, CA, US) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Nice design, nice big bright screen. Of course I didn't expect to run high end graphics. But when I open iTunes and scroll, the album covers get all "smeared" over one another, and in fact the song list doesn't get updated as a scroll. That's no good for 3 stars. I haven't seen this happen on any other computer. Please let me know if anyone else had the same problem.
